The RAM-VB-196-SW1 Universal No-Drill Laptop Mount provides a secure mobile workstation for a wide range of vehicles using existing seat rail hardware with no drilling required. Compatible with the Toyota Tacoma (2024–Current), Chevrolet Colorado (2023–Current) and GMC Canyon (2023–Current), this mounting system also serves as a Toyota Tacoma Laptop Mount, Chevy Colorado Laptop Mount, and GMC Canyon Laptop Mount for professionals who need reliable in-vehicle computing.
This Universal No-Drill Laptop Mount features a heavy-duty steel mounting base, a telescoping pole with adjustable height, dual swing arms providing up to 12 inches of reach, and RAM® ball and socket technology for exceptional adjustability and vibration damping. The included legacy RAM® Tough-Tray™ securely supports laptops from 10″ to 17″ and is ideal as a Fleet Vehicle Laptop Mount for law enforcement, police, utility, service, construction, and other commercial fleet vehicles. Optional accessories such as the RAM® Screen Support and USB Light help create a complete mobile office, while integrated mounting holes make it easy to attach GPS units, handheld devices, scanners and other RAM® accessories.

- Can someone sit in the passenger seat while this mount is installed?
Technically, someone can still sit in the passenger seat while the RAM-VB-196-SW1 is installed. However, the mount does take up a considerable amount of legroom, making the passenger seat less comfortable. If you need to quickly remove the mount to create additional passenger space, we recommend installing the RAM-VB-REM1 Remove-A-Pole™ Base, which allows the mounting system to be removed without uninstalling the base.
- Can I use this mount in a right-hand drive vehicle?
No. The RAM-VB-196-SW1 is designed for left-hand drive vehicles. For right-hand drive vehicles, we recommend the RAM-VB-196-1-SW1, which is specifically designed for those applications.
- Will this mount work in a 2017 Nissan Titan?
The RAM-VB-196-SW1 has been tested and confirmed only for the vehicles listed in its compatibility chart. If your 2017 Nissan Titan is not listed, we recommend comparing your vehicle’s seat bolt spacing and reviewing the Universal Vehicle Laptop Mount Compatibility Guide to determine fitment. Please note that, depending on your vehicle, installation may limit passenger seat adjustment.
- Will the base fit a 2025 Toyota 4Runner?
The RAM-VB-196-SW1 is a universal laptop mounting system. To determine compatibility with your 2025 Toyota 4Runner, compare your vehicle’s passenger-side seat bolt spacing with the specifications listed under the Specifications tab on this product page. We also recommend reviewing the installation instructions before purchasing.
- Will this mount work for a 2023 Jeep Gladiator?
The RAM-VB-196-SW1 has been tested and confirmed only for the vehicles listed in its compatibility chart. If your 2023 Jeep Gladiator is not listed, compare your vehicle’s seat bolt spacing with the product specifications and review the Universal Vehicle Laptop Mount Compatibility Guide to help determine fitment. Depending on your vehicle, installation may limit passenger seat adjustment.
- What's the difference between the RAM Mount SW1 and SW3 laptop systems?
The primary difference between the SW1 and SW3 laptop systems is the included laptop tray.
The SW1 system includes the original RAM® Tough-Tray™ (RAM-234-3), while the SW3 system includes the newer RAM® Tough-Tray™ III (RAM-234-7).
